Important Take Aways From The Event
- The Ocean Literacy World Conference-the first United Nations conference dedicated to ocean education organized by the Prada Group and UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission
- The event occurred at the Venue of the UNESCO Venice Office and at Ca’ Giustinian in Venice (the historical building hosting the permanent exhibition of “La Biennale”) brought together 131 delegates from UNESCO member states and ocean literacy experts from around the world to contribute to the “Venice Declaration for Ocean Literacy,” a ten-point collective document aimed at rebalancing the relationship between the ocean and human beings.
- In this occasion the Venice Declaration was endorsed and the ECOP representatives asked for an integration to highlight and enforce the active engagement of ECOPs in the UN Ocean Decade achievements paving the way towards the next high-level appointment in Nice (UNOC 2025-June 2025)
