Important Take Aways From The Event

  • There exists about 60-70 species of mangroves in the world. Only 9 of these species are available along the Kenyan Coast.
  • The most common species of mangrove in Kenya is Rhizophora mucronata locally reffered to us Mikoko
  • Other dominant species of mangrove in kenya includes; Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Ceriops tagal ,Avicennia marina and Sonneratia alba
  • On this particular activity, we managed to plant Ceriops tagal and Rhizophora mucronata species of mangrove.
